Nikon D3 SLR at 6400 ISO. Capture NX Edit with D-lighting

Sept 24th, 2007

Nikon Canada Inc. recently offered accredited professional sports photographers (attending the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball home games at the Rogers Stadium in Toronto), the opportunity to try out initial production samples of the new Nikon D3 12.1 MP FX Format digital SLR.

We have just posted five Nikon D3 High ISO sample images taken by a photographer who was present at the event.

One of the images was captured with the new Nikkor AF-S VR 500mm f/4G ED, a lens that delivers great quality and very sharp results. (Sample Image #1)

From what we have heard, the photographers (there were a number of Canon shooters among them) who tried out the camera were very impressed with the overall performance of the Nikon D3, and in particular, the highly accurate AF tracking capabilities, including the new 51-point 3D Dynamic AF mode, the quality of the high resolution LCD screen and the incredible low noise performance, as seen in the images below.

As Nikon puts it in their D3 Press Release:

"Eight years after Nikon’s D1 camera changed professional digital photography forever, Nikon has introduced the D3 – a new digital SLR camera that is poised to once again revolutionize photography for professionals."

It definitely looks like Nikon has another real winner on their hands with the Nikon D3 digital SLR.
