This image was taken with
the Nikon D3 and the AF-S VR 200-400mm f/4G telephoto lens. The
Active D-Lighting feature found on the Nikon D3 was set to On (normal).
The Nikon D3 and the
Nikon D300 digital SLR feature a new Active D-Lighting mode that, when
enabled, provides real-time highlight and shadow correction with optimized
image contrast. Active D-Lighting is intended to produce broader tone
reproduction in both shadows and highlights by controlling highlights
and exposure compensation while applying localized tone control technology
to achieve a more pleasing level of contrast across the entire image.
