This image was taken with
the Nikon D3 and the AF-S VR 200-400mm f/4G telephoto lens. The
ISO sensitivity on the Nikon D3 was set to 0.3 EV over 6400 ISO (HI 0.3)
As
can be seen with the very usable high ISO sensitivity settings offered
on the Nikon D3, the Nikkor AF-S VR 200-400mm f/4G now becomes a practical
lens for even sports photography. With previous digital SLR cameras, this
lens has been considered too slow for fast action photography due to its
slower maximum f/4 aperture than the commonly used faster fixed focal
length f/2.8 lenses. By boosting the ISO to 6400 or higher on the D3,
a fast enough shutter speed can now be obtained when using this lens under
lower light conditions.
