April 24th, 2007 The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) has announced the winners of their 2007 European Photo and Imaging Awards. Nikon has earned top accolades with the Nikon D40x for "Best Entry Level Digital SLR", the Nikon Coolpix P5000 for "Best Compact Digital Camera" and the AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF ED for "Best Entry Level Lens". Canon also takes home three of the prestigious awards with the higher end 10MP Canon EOS 1D Mark III digital SLR voted "Best D-SLR Professional Camera", and the new Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM voted as the "Best Professional Lens". The Canon PIXMA MP810 was selected as the "Best Multifunction Photo Printer". |

In awarding the Nikon D40x the "Best Entry Level Digital SLR", the TIPA editors note: "..the Nikon D40x is an excellent D-SLR for those entering the world of digital photography, with superb image quality and a very fast shutter response. In a kit package with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens, it comes with many advanced features and offers a shooting rate of up to three frames per second. The D40x is light, compact and boasts a high quality 2.5 inch LCD for camera setup and image review. winners include; Pentax with the Pentax K10D digital SLR for "Best
Digital SLR Expert", Panasonic with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3
for "Best Superzoom Digital Camera", and Fujifilm with the
Fujifilm FinePix Z5fd for "Best Ultra Compact Digital Camera".
These prestigious awards for the best photographic and imaging products of the year are widely recognized throughout the industry. |
