Nikon
Canada Inc. Press release:
TORONTO,
ON - October 28, 2003 - Just in time for the holidays, Nikon Canada
Inc. today announced the Coolpix 3700 digital camera - the ideal choice
for digital photography enthusiasts looking for a simple-to-use, point
and shoot camera offering Nikon's legendary image quality.
This
stylish camera continues the tradition of image quality, operating
ease and portability that distinguishes Nikon's award-winning Coolpix
series. The Coolpix 3700 features a 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens and
3.2 megapixels of resolution, delivering superior optical performance
and photo quality (2,048 x 1,536 pixels) images. Nikon's new advanced
image-processing algorithm ensures faithful colour reproduction, sharp
contrasts and consistent clarity in virtually all shooting conditions.
Image quality is further enhanced thanks to the high-precision 256-segment
Matrix exposure metering and Auto White Balance (AWB) with TTL control
which automatically select ideal exposures for the photographer according
to the shooting conditions they're in.
The
Coolpix 3700 was designed to simplify and streamline picture-taking
for the amateur photographer, while at the same time increasing the
versatility and enjoyment of digital photography.
The
Coolpix 3700 is equipped with 15 versatile Scene Modes, including
Portrait, Party/Indoor, Sunset, Museum, Fireworks Show and Panorama
Assist, which instantly automate image composition for a wide range
of activities, backgrounds and lighting conditions. Users can also
enjoy continuous shooting to catch all the action and spontaneity
of the moment, as well as time-lapse photography, such as shooting
a sunset. The handy Macro Function allows photographers to get as
close as 4 cm to subjects and capture the finest details, while the
Multi-Area Auto Focus locks onto subjects in no time. Reaching beyond
still pictures, the Coolpix 3700 features eight movie modes, including
one for filming TV-resolution movies at 30 frames per second (fps),
complete with sound.

Even
with all these functions, the controls on the Coolpix 3700 have been
kept to a minimum and are logically arranged for easy, speedy handling.
The camera also powers-up instantly and features a quick shutter response,
so photographers can catch the shots they want. The Coolpix 3700's
high-definition LCD monitor also makes it easy to frame shots.
The
Coolpix 3700 comes complete with NikonView 6 software that lets users
easily transfer photos from the camera to the computer, edit them,
email and print them in a variety of layouts and sizes. As well, this
software removes red-eye with one click of a button.
Designed
for today's mobile lifestyle, the slim, ultra-compact Coolpix 3700's
aluminum body (only 4.4 oz) is designed to go anywhere - fitting comfortably
in most shirt pockets. With its elegant looks, outstanding portability
and innovative functions, the Coolpix 3700 will expand and enrich
the world of digital photography for dynamic people on the go.
Availability,
Pricing and Warranty
The Coolpix 3700 will be available in November at Authorized Nikon
Canada Dealers for a suggested retail price of $599. Nikon Coolpix
cameras purchased through an authorized dealer are covered under a
two year Canadian warranty against manufacturing defects - the only
warranty of its kind to offer two year in-Canada service on consumer
digital cameras.
