Press
Release, Sept 16th, 2004
- Nikon, the world leader in photography, today announced
the introduction of the COOLPIX 5100, a slim, lightweight
digital camera with 5.1 effective megapixel performance
and surprisingly simple operation.
The
new Nikon COOLPIX 5100 with an eye-catching champagne
gold colour builds on the capabilities of the COOLPIX
4100, featuring the same stylish grip for comfort
with all controls located on the back of the camera
for convenience and ease of operation. With the enhanced
Graphic User Interface (GUI), menus are easy-to-read
on a bright 1.6-inch TFT LCD monitor.
The
new Nikon COOLPIX 5100 is even equipped with 14.5MB
of internal memory, allowing the user to capture memories
when there is no SD card present, or copy shots between
the internal memory and an SD card.
The
COOLPIX series has been designed for ease-of-use,
and the new Nikon COOLPIX 5100 includes the popular
15 Scene modes that provide simplicity when shooting
different kinds of subjects. Four of the Scene modes
even offer a Scene Assist function to make shooting
that much easier. The new Nikon COOLPIX 5100 can even
record movies with sound.
With
new colour options, the Nikon COOLPIX 5100 makes your
picture shooting more creative. Capture images in
standard colour, vivid colour, sepia, cyanotype, or
black and white. And, the handy AF-assist illuminator
function makes it easy to achieve sharp focus in poor
lighting conditions. The Blur Warning lets you know
if the shot is affected by camera shake - providing
a choice to record or not.
A
high-quality 3x optical Zoom-Nikkor lens and 4x digital
zoom provides a high degree of control over picture
composition. The new Nikon COOLPIX 5100 makes it easy
to zoom in close on a subject or person, zoom out
for group shots, and even has a handy Macro mode which
can be used as close as 4cm so that small objects
fill the frame.
The
COOLPIX 5100 achieves vibrant colors, faithful contrast,
and impressive clarity - all made possible by Nikon's
advanced image processing algorithms. And, with Nikon
Canada's exclusive 2-year warranty for all COOLPIX
cameras, consumers will know their investment is protected
