Nikon
D2X and D2Hs DSLR
Firmware Update Coming
Based
on the new MSRP's, with a difference of $700 CDN between the D2X and the
D2Xs, the Nikon D2X represents a great value especially taking into account
that with the coming firmware upgrade many of the features found in the
D2Xs will be available to the D2X.
Nikon has announced
that they will be releasing new firmware this fall for the Nikon D2X and
the D2Hs professional digital SLR cameras that brings a number of the
feature improvements incorporated in the new Nikon
D2Xs to owners of the D2X and the Nikon D2Hs.
The main differences
between the Nikon D2Xs and an updated D2X will be that the D2Xs will offer
an enhanced 2.5" LCD monitor with a wide 170 degree viewing angle,
improved viewfinder performance in high speed crop mode, and a USB cable
lock feature. The question is if it is really worth it compared to the
potential savings that can be realized by buying a D2X today and updating
the fimware once available. See
