The original image above was captured by holding the Nikon D80 in one hand and shooting high over the crowd without looking through the viewfinder. Although the picture ended up horizontally misaligned, we liked the overall mood and feel of the scene.

By post processing the Nikon D80 image in Nikon Capture NX we were able to crop, straighten for horizontal composition, and use NX Colour Control Points to reduce the bluish cast from the BBQ grill smoke in the air. We also used Colour Control Points to recover highlight detail in the top left portion of the image and applied a minor tone level adjustment to the entire image.
