Nikon Reduces Price on Nikon D3000, D5000, D90, D300s, D700, D3s, D3x

May 12th, 2010: Nikon Canada Inc. has just reduced the manufacturer's recommended retail price (MSRP) on all of their current digital SLR cameras, including the Nikon D3000, D5000, D90, D300s, D700, D3s and the Nikon D3x.

The Nikon D3000 is Nikon's latest digital SLR camera that is designed for entry level users. As an upgrade to the Nikon D40 and D60, the D3000 adds a larger 3.0-inch LCD screen and incorporates a number of features and functions from the D5000 and the Nikon D90.

With a 10.2 megapixel resolution DX format sensor, the D3000 features plenty of resolution for larger size prints. An easy Guide Mode setting on the control dial helps novice users take better pictures.

The Nikon D5000 is a digital SLR camera that is mainly aimed at entry level users that want the added ability of recording 720p HD movie clips interchangeably with their still images.

With a 12.3 megapixel resolution DX format sensor and advanced technologies inherited from its higher end siblings like the Nikon D90 and D300, the Nikon D5000 is an ideal family oriented camera. Users will also benefit from the cameras large swivel LCD monitor.

The Nikon D90 is one of Nikon's most popular digital SLR's to date and was the first digital SLR to also feature the ability to record 720p HD movie clips with sound.

Primarily aimed at photography enthusiasts, the 12.3 MP Nikon D90 incorporates a number of advanced features including Nikon's Scene Recognition System, 11-point Auto Focus with 3D AF tracking, and built-in wireless flash control. A wealth of automatic modes on the D90 allows more novice users to pick up the camera and still shoot great photos while learning and expanding their photographic skills.

As the Nikon DX format flagship, the serious hobbyist and professional oriented Nikon D300s digital SLR offers 12.3MP resolution in a more durable magnesium alloy camera body that also features weather seals to help protect against the elements. As an update to the popular Nikon D300, the Nikon D300s offers the added convenience of 720p HD movie recording.

The Nikon D300s is designed to meet the requirements of advanced photographers with fast 51 point AF with 3D AF Subject Tracking, a 1005-segment RGB 3D Matrix metering system, and up to 8 frames per second continuous shooting with the optional Nikon MB-D10 battery grip (6 frames per second without the grip).

The Nikon D300s also features a large 3.0-inch high resolution 920,000 dot LCD monitor with wide viewing angle, and a dedicated i-TTL built-in flash that can act as a wireless trigger for optional external compatible speedlights in support of the Nikon Creative Lighting System.

Nikon Canada has also reduced the manufacturer's suggested retail price on the professional Nikon D700 and the Nikon D3x full frame FX format digital SLR cameras.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the D700 body only is now $2699, a price decrease equal to $100 (was $2799). See latest Canadian street price here.

The MSRP on the professional Nikon D3s FX format SLR body only has been reduced to $5499. $100 price drop.

The professional 24.5 megapixel high resolution full frame Nikon D3x FX format SLR now has an MSRP of $8099 Canadian, a price decrease that amounts to about $150.
