Olympus Introduces Pricing and Extended Warranties to Support Canadian Consumers

Olympus today announced that it is taking a leadership position in providing Canadians and Canadian retailers with U.S. retail price parity. Olympus’ point-and-shoot digital cameras are now available in Canadian stores for the same retail prices as at U.S. retailers, representing an average of 20 per cent reduction in Canadian retail pricing. Additionally, Olympus is offering near-parity to U.S. pricing on its digital SLR (single lens reflex) cameras and lenses and the added incentive of free extended warranties, which are available to consumers outside of Canada only by purchase.

As long as the Canadian dollar remains strong, we plan to ensure that Olympus’ consumers receive the fairest prices.”

All Olympus products automatically include a one-year international warranty on parts and services. Digital SLR camera bodies sold in Canada beginning on December 1, 2007 will include a special two-year extended warranty in addition to the one-year international warranty for a total of three years of warranty coverage.

Olympus lenses sold in Canada after December 1, 2007 will carry a four-year extended warranty, which combines with the international warranty, to provide a total of five years’ protection. The digital SLR extended two-year warranty and the extended four-year warranty on lenses each have a value of approximately CAD$99.99.
