Sony
Cyber-shot DSC-H9
and DSC-H7 Digital Cameras
|

Sony has today introduced their next generation long
range zoom cameras, the 8.1 MP Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H7 and DSC-H9,
both featuring a 15x optical zoom combined with Sony's Super Steady-Shot
image stabilization technology.
|
|
|
| The
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 packs an array of hi-tech features,
including a 3.0 LCD screen with tilt-up design,
Advanced Sports Mode (1/4000 sec.), and the Sony NightShot
system for shooting in darkness by infrared light,
and Face Detection to bring out the best in faces. |
|
The
main difference beween the two cameras is that the
Sony DSC-H7 features a slightly smaller 2.5"
rear LCD viewing monitor and lacks the Sony NightShot
system.
Both
the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H7 and the DSC-H9 incorporate
Sony's Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization
system and feature a high sensitivity (ISO 3200)
mode for low-light shooting without flash. A new
High Definition (HD) output now lets you share memories
in high resolution detail on compatible HDTV screens.
The
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H7 and DSC-H9 will be sold in
either a black or silver body colour and are expected
in stores by May.

Sony
Cyber-shot DSC-H7 and DSC-H9
Major Features

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9 back view
High-Power Carl Zeiss® 15X Optical Zoom
A superb lens for bringing long-distance subjects up close,
the pro-quality Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar® lens design
of the DSC-H9 and DSC-H7 provides 15X Optical zoom design
-- with 25X HD Digital zoom to enlarge the center portion
of the picture so you see even more detail.
8.1 MP Super HAD CCD
More megapixels give you
more detail and definition for editing, cropping, and
making large digital prints. Sonys advanced Super
HAD (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD design allows more
light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and
reducing noise.
Large, Clear LCD Screens, Simple Controls
The Sony DSC-H9 incorporates a large bright 3.0" Clear
Photo LCD Plus screen that tilts up for convenient
low-angle shooting, while the DSC-H7 features a non tilting
2.5" Clear Photo LCD. Both cameras also feature simple
camera menus, a new GUI Home button, and a Function Guide
display that makes it easier to learn camera setup operations.
NightShot® Infrared System
Sonys NightShot system found exclusively in the Sony
DSC-H9 provides infrared illumination for shooting in neardark
or totally dark conditions without using a flash -- so you
can capture sleeping children, nocturnal animals and creative
night scenes that lie beyond the power of conventional cameras.
Advanced Sports Mode
To capture fast-moving subjects in splitsecond detail, this
innovative shooting mode combines high shutter speed (1/4000
sec.) with Intelligent Continuous AF that responds more
quickly to rapid motion -- a great way to catch the perfect
moment in sports, childrens games, pet tricks and
more.
 |
|
Long-Distance Flash
A
powerful flash provides extra illumination to
light up subjects farther from your camera, with
precise light control and the ability to adjust
flash for both front and rear sync when shooting
at low-speed sync setting.
|
High Sensitivity Mode With Super SteadyShot® image
stabilization to minimize blur.
High Sensitivity Mode (ISO 3200) lets both the Sony DSC-H9
and DSC-H7 shoot effectively in low light without flash
to preserve the mood -- and Sonys original Clear RAW
NR (Noise Reduction) image processing technology helps suppress
the color noise that can accompany high sensitivity shooting.
Face Detection
By automatically controlling focus, exposure, color and
flash, this new Sony feature reveals faces in shadow,
makes skin tones look more natural and eliminates harsh
facial glare -- to help bring out every expression on
every face in every shot, so youll capture the personalities
and emotions that make memories come alive.
HD Output
Your photo album can go high-def -- with direct HD output
to your compatible HDTV screen, so you can view DSC-H9 or
DSC-H7 still photos in spectacular high definition clarity
and detail. Your life never looked so exciting!
HD Slide Show with Music
Its the high-definition viewing experience that
makes photos come alive on compatible HDTV screens, accompanied
by your choice of visual effects and any of four preset
musical selections stored in memory or your favorite MP3
tunes downloaded from PC to your camera for use as background
music.
9-Point Auto Focus Because an off-center subject can
make your shot more interesting, both the DSC-H9 and Sony
DSC-H7 can measure auto-focus precision at 9 points on your
screen -- giving you greater creative freedom to compose
your image.
D-Range Optimization
Powered by the exclusive Sony Bionz highspeed processing
engine, D-Range Optimization preserves image data in bright
highlights and reveals more detail in shadows or backlit
areas -- for great results even in difficult lighting conditions.
In-Camera Retouching
Both cameras allow you to add creative effects to your photos
after you shoot -- including soft edge filter to soften
backgrounds, cross filter to place starry dazzles
at highlight points, partial color filter to mute surrounding
colors, even fish-eye filter to create interesting fish-eye
lens effects.
In-Camera Red-Eye Reduction
In-Camera Red-Eye Reduction. Irritating glowing eyes
can ruin even the most creative photos -- so both the DSC-H9
and DSC-H7 give you in-camera correction at the touch of
a button to reduce lingering red-eye effect that other systems
might miss.
|
Remote Control Function Features
Included handy remote control allows you to among
others scroll through and view images with the camera
connected to a larger TV screen. (HD 1080)
Also
functions as an infrared remote trigger with zoom
control and shutter release.

Sony
DSC-H7 and DSC-H9
Press Release
Las
Vegas- February 27, 2007- Responding to the growing
demand for super zoom digital cameras, Sony is introducing its
new 8-megapixel DSC-H9 and DSC-H7 models. Designed to appeal
to families with budding athletes in their broods, the cameras
debut Sonys new advanced sports shooting mode.
This
mode combines high shutter speed shooting and intelligent continuous
auto-focusing. The cameras can quickly focus on fast-moving
subjects by predicting where those subjects will be in the frame.
This predictive technology also helps to reduce shutter lag,
the time it takes for the camera to focus and shoot.
Both
cameras feature powerful Carl Zeiss® 15x optical zoom lenses
for up-close shots of big plays on the field. You wont
miss the look of victory in your champions face with Sonys
new face detection technology. It can identify up to eight faces
in the cameras LCD frame, and automatically adjust white
balance and flash as well as focus and exposure for correctly
exposed, sharp photos.
The
Big Game Is Even Bigger In High Definition
Half
the fun is playing the game and the other half is re-living
the experience by viewing and sharing your photos. Why huddle
around the PC to look at pictures when you can impress family
and friends with the visual impact of the game in the utmost
clarity, color and detail on an HDTV set.
These
new cameras feature high-definition outputs. Simply connect
them to your HDTV with the Sony VMC-MHC1 high-definition component
cable, sold separately, and turn photo viewing into an entertainment
experience.
Shoot
At The Speed of Life
Even
if youre not at full speed during the soccer match on
Saturday morning, the H9 and H7 models will be. These new cameras
can shoot up to 1/4000 of a second, a critical speed for capturing
fast-moving sports and freezing the action.

Both
cameras are powered by the Bionz processing engine, first
used in Sonys Alpha digital SLR camera system. This new
circuitry speeds up response times and delivers the fast image
processing speeds needed to produce color-rich, detailed pictures
for true high-definition photo viewing.
Capturing
fast action does not have to result in blurry photos. The H9
and H7 cameras incorporate Super Steady Shot® optical image
stabilization to minimize blur caused by camera shake, an important
feature when shooting at slow shutter speeds at full zoom. Their
high sensitivity, up to ISO3200, also helps to fight blur resulting
from fast-moving subjects.
The
H9 camera takes fast-action shooting a step further. It sports
a 3-inch, flip-up LCD screen so that you can shoot comfortably
from nearly any position. You can hold the camera low to the
ground for eye-level shots of kids, without having to contort
yourself or crawl on the ground, or hold it high for shots of
the crowd. The H7 camera has a non-articulating but large 2.5-inch
LCD screen for easy sharing and viewing.
Capture
The Mood
The
Sony DSC-H9 camera is the only Cyber-shot model in this years
line to feature NightShot® technology. This feature allows
you to take photographs in environments with virtually no light
so you wont miss the action, even at a late night game.

Both
cameras high sensitivity (up to ISO 3200) will also help
preserve the mood of your pictures by capturing well-exposed,
natural-looking photos, even in challenging low-light conditions.
You can shoot at higher shutter speeds to take in the maximum
amount of light without using the flash. Picture noise, common
to pictures shot at high ISO levels, is minimized by Sony's
Clear RAW noise reduction technology.
The
Winning Finish
The
H-series cameras incorporate selectable in-camera editing functions
so you can spend more time on the field and less time behind
a computer.
Equipped
with Sonys Dynamic Range Optimizer, the new cameras can
analyze captured image data and instantly determine the best
exposure and tonality of each picture before JPEG compression.
Other
helpful in-camera functions include red-eye correction and photo
retouching effects with filters.
|
Select
from one of four filter options for creative fun, such
as the partial color filter that can highlight your star
athlete in color while the background of the photo is
in black-and-white.
The
DSC-H9 and DSC-H7 cameras will ship in April for about
$480 and $400 US, respectively. The VMC-HD1 high-definition
component cable will also be available in April for about
$40 US.
Additional
accessories include wide and telephoto conversion lenses,
filters, batteries, travel chargers, sports packs and
cases.
